Before you watch
This testimony contains a prolonged and detailed account of stage three esophageal cancer, multiple surgeries, a trach, vocal cord removal, and financial crisis — heavy medical content told with remarkable composure. What makes it worth watching is that Lorinda is speaking these words right now with one vocal cord and a trach, defying every medical prognosis she was given.
What this story teaches
People often assume God's silence in suffering means absence. This testimony shows that God can be most actively present precisely in the moments when circumstances are most dire — speaking, providing, and healing in ways that only become visible in retrospect.
How God moved
God did not remove Lorinda's cancer before it came, but he refused to let it have the final word. He spoke a scripture to her in a hospital bed, provided for her financially through a stranger, and gave her back a voice that medicine said was gone — not to make her life easy, but to make his presence undeniable. He stayed with her through every stage of the suffering rather than lifting her out of it.
The lie Laurinda carried
I'm not a good person, so God wants nothing to do with me.
What Jesus showed her
She had carried since childhood the wound that she was a bad person whom God did not want — and that wound resurfaced after her divorce. The cancer diagnosis stripped away her sense of having 'made it through' and exposed that the lie of unworthiness had never been fully uprooted.
I know Jesus is a healer because he healed me. It's one thing to read it, but to actually go through it and know him as a healer on a personal level — that just hit so much deeper.
Go Deeper
Stay encouraged. The Bible says that one of the fruit of the spirit is long-suffering. And I think that sometimes social media does a lot of painting a picture of Christianity in the sense of oh, everything is easy, it's glitter and gold, and everything — it's not. And that is not to scare you away, but it's to train you up and to prepare for what's to come. However, to understand that the Lord doesn't leave you in that. The Lord doesn't leave us in the suffering, but it's the suffering that produces our endurance, and the Bible says that he who endures to the end will be saved. So I just pray that by hearing me and by hearing the endurance that I had to go through through the trials that it provides you an understanding of what it means to endure. And so also know that God's not done with you yet. I thought he was done with me after that divorce. I thought, 'Okay, we're good. Everything's peachy keen.' He's like, 'No, there's still some things that I need to use you for.' So, with our surrender, with our saying, 'Yes, Lord, use me.' That comes with a never-ending promise to the Lord to use me in any way. So, yeah, just be prepared.

What you can take from this
If you are in a medical or financial crisis this week, write down one specific promise from God — a verse, a word, a conviction — and hold it as your anchor point, even when nothing around you confirms it yet.
I went through a lot of childhood trauma and in that childhood trauma I deemed myself as being a bad person. God only likes good people. I'm not a good person, so God wants nothing to do with me.
When I made the decision to get divorced I just knew that God was not going to like me again. So I put myself back on the outside of that. Stepped away from the faith after my divorce.
Am I going to die? The only thing I could formulate to come out of my mouth was am I going to die? I felt my heart start to race. I just kept uttering I have cancer. I have cancer. Like, what? Wouldn't it have just been easier for me to die?
I don't know who this God is. I don't know anything about him, but there is no reason why I should still be alive through that. That was the catalyst of me trying to figure out who God was.
Yes, I want to get saved. Take me, Lord. You saved me for a reason.
Lord, what do you want me to do? You told me that this sickness was not going to lead me to die, but there's a lot coming with this and there's a lot of voices and I don't know who to follow and I don't know what to do, so I need you to tell me what to do.
Lord, if you need me — I did not want to have this trach for the rest of my life. Yes, I'm ecstatic that I no longer have cancerous cells in my body. You healed me. Yes, this trach comes with frustrations and different things, but if it means that I just have to endure and wait a little while longer, I will still trust you in the midst of that.
John 11:4
God spoke this verse to Lorinda almost audibly after her cancer diagnosis; she held it as his promise she would not die.
Psalms 37:25
Lorinda paraphrased 'the righteous don't go forsaken and his seed don't beg for bread' as she prayed for provision before calling her landlord.
John 11:35
Referenced in closing prayer — Jesus wept over Lazarus, showing God does not enjoy seeing his people suffer.
God gave Lorinda John 11:4 directly; like Lazarus, her sickness was declared not unto death but for the glory of God.
Lorinda prayed this promise before calling her landlord; the landlord's supernatural generosity fulfilled it visibly.
The accusation
God allowed this to happen to meWhat they said
“God, why? Like, have I already not gone through enough? Like, you saw what that divorce did to me. Like, I thought that was it. Like, I thought that was my testimony. What is this? Cancer?”
How God answered
God gave her John 11:4 — 'This sickness will not lead to death, but it's for the glory of God' — and repeatedly confirmed through supernatural provision, her voice returning, and remission that he had not abandoned her but was getting glory through it.
Resolution
Fully resolved in testimonyLaurinda's Christian Walk
Outsider who believed God only wanted good people → woman who endures stage three cancer, a trach, and a removed vocal cord as a living marker of God's glory.
Cancer went into remission — no active cancer cells detected. Voice returned after vocal cord removal despite medical certainty it would not. Landlord forgave all rent and returned five months of payments. Lorinda moved in safely with relatives during treatment. She is now walking, talking, and breathing when doctors said she should not be able to do any of these things.
The feeling of God not wanting me because I'm a bad person — that I had to be clean or good enough to come to God. And after the divorce, that same feeling came back. The Lord found me and set a reminder that no, you are mine.
After her 2012 conversion, Lorinda experienced a marriage marked by adultery, then divorce — which caused her to step away from faith, believing God rejected her. Years later she was diagnosed with stage three esophageal cancer, underwent 50 rounds of radiation, a feeding tube, a trach, and vocal cord removal, losing her job and home in the process.
You don't need to be good. Come as you are.

Prayer
The power of Prayer — grandmother stood in the gap for Laurinda.
Her grandmother lived with the family throughout Lorinda's entire childhood and would be found on her knees in full prayer in her room. Lorinda did not understand who she was praying to, but the image stayed with her as her only sense of who God might be.
Laurinda closes their testimony with a prayer for you.
Whatever you carry right now, you can bring it to Him. You don’t need the right words.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13
If you don’t know how → Just ask him
Pray for anyone sitting in a hospital room or a doctor's office right now who has just received news they were not prepared for — that God would speak something specific to them in that room, as he did to Lorinda.
Is today your day?
Absolutely, He will.
You don't have to figure everything out right now.
You don't need to have all the answers.
If something stirred in your heart while you were watching or reading — that's not nothing.
That is the Holy Spirit gently knocking on the door of your heart.
Stay right here. There's no rush. The Spirit doesn't pressure or hurry.
Watch another video. Read a little more. Take your time.
When you're ready — even if “ready” just means a little curious — Jesus is ready to meet you.
You don't have to clean up your life first.
You don't have to pass any test.
You only need to say a simple “yes” to Him.
He will take care of the rest.
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

I was a very miserable, angry person. My whole life was a trauma drama. I was into the New Age for 15 years, tried everything — Sufism, Buddhism, feminism, all of it — and none of it led me to truth or life. I had so much abuse, anger, hatred, and condemnation inside me.

I was a foster care kid who aged out of the system with a felony, no education, and a deep belief that I was a mistake. I fled my marriage, practiced Buddhism, and sought worth in all the wrong places. I was angry, broken, and terrified — and I didn't believe God existed.
