Before you watch
This testimony moves through racial identity wounds, occult involvement, demonic sleep paralysis, and a suicide attempt before arriving at a vision of Jesus and a gradual, hard-won surrender. What makes it distinctive is how precisely God tracked Nia's specific wounds — her father's absence, her racial shame, her counterfeit spirituality — and answered each one personally.
What this story teaches
People who feel most invisible — rejected for how they look, unseen by a father, dismissed by peers — are often the most susceptible to anything that promises to see them. The enemy knows this and offers counterfeits. God knows this too, and pursues them anyway.
How God moved
God watched Nia chase every counterfeit version of what only he could give — worth, purpose, love, direction — and instead of abandoning her to the consequences, he kept showing up: in an audible voice that stopped a suicide attempt, in a vision of himself at a gate, in a word that found her in a drive-thru at 11pm. He was not offended by her anger. He waited.
The lie Nia carried
I was ugly, unwanted, and unworthy — especially as a dark-skinned woman — and no matter what I did to be approved or validated, it just never worked.
What Jesus showed her
Nia carried a deep wound of racial rejection and worthlessness — believing she was ugly, unlovable, and never enough as a dark-skinned woman — and spent years seeking validation through appearance, relationships, and counterfeit spirituality. Jesus exposed that everything she was chasing outside of him was a lie built on that wound.
Everything that I was trying to pursue for myself was all in his hands. He gave me back so much of what I thought the locust had eaten.
Go Deeper
I would definitely say please do not get involved. It's a demonic door and all the enemy needs is just not even your permission. He just needs that door open. It even says in scripture that he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He's nothing but a liar and a deceiver. God has everything that he needs. He wants relationship with you, humanity. We don't need to seek anything else outside of his will when he's given us everything we need within it. So I would say do not go to a psychic. They cannot tell you what your future is because at the end of the day, they're working for the demonic realm. The demonic realm wants you to go down this path that Christ, the Lord, never wanted you to go down because it takes you away from him and from fulfilling the plans and purposes that he has for you. You want to talk to a spirit, talk to the Holy Spirit. I promise you, he can do a lot more than the demonic spirit.
People who feel most invisible — rejected for how they look, unseen by a father, dismissed by peers — are often the most susceptible to anything that promises to see them. The enemy knows this and offers counterfeits. God knows this too, and pursues them anyway.
What you can take from this
If you have been looking for your purpose in relationships, career, or spiritual experiences outside of God, take one step this week: ask God directly — out loud — to show you what he wants to show you. Nia did exactly that at 3am with a journal, and it changed everything.
I was so deceived that if I could look at her reviews, maybe she's authentic. I said, 'God, since you won't tell me what my purpose is, I'm going to go and find somebody that will.' She told me things that nobody else would have known and things that would tickle my ears.
I would always have sleep paralysis but this time it was so bad. There was an evil presence in the room that I could feel. It would say these vile words and it would choke me and I couldn't breathe. The only time it would stop was when I would say 'God, God.' It happened for days on end.
I never had like this deep disgust about me. Like I could just I never had that in my life. It was like a hatred. I felt so not loved. I felt so like I was just nothing. I basically allowed it because I didn't know my worth through Christ.
I just need to go on just a journey with just being alone. I don't want to bother anybody. I want to put any of my problems on anybody. Not even realizing that that's actually a trick of the enemy is to keep you isolated.
That is exactly my relationship with my father. He wasn't there for me in the ways I wanted him to be or I needed him to be. And that's the same thing that the enemy was so crafty on doing — it was going to be nothing but a cycle. The same slope I was going to be putting on my own children.
I'll never forget one day there was like this thought and I know it wasn't a thought for me, but it was like this thought that just said, 'If you just end it, everything will just be over.' But I winded up just blocking it out.
A day or so after I'd gotten baptized I was just taking a nap and I wind up hearing a growl and I was awake when I hear this growl but there's obviously nothing in the room. I don't see it but I hear this growl. I already knew what this is.
God, I surrender. I surrender. I don't think I really knew what I was saying. I just knew that I couldn't take it anymore.
I look it up and I see a flood of verses just pile about how it's abominable in his sight. And I'm frozen. I was like, 'No.' And so I'm repenting. I'm like, 'God, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.'
This isn't who I am. I've made up this whole person, this whole persona, and it's not who I am. I threw away my contacts and I never wore them.
God, get rid of my cussing addiction.
Lord, it's you, but I can't end this. I need you to do this. It ended that week.
I winded up getting baptized in April of that year.
John 10:9
Host connected Nia's vision of Jesus outside a gate to Jesus's declaration 'I am the gate.' Nia affirmed the connection.
Matthew 6:25
Nia recognized God's spoken words 'do not worry about your life' as confirmed in Matthew 6 after she began reading the Bible.
Matthew 28:20
Confirmed God's spoken words 'I am always with you' — Nia cited this verse explicitly as the scriptural confirmation.
Numbers 23:19
Nia cited this verse — 'God is not a man that shall lie' — when warning viewers not to go to psychics.
James 2:26
Nia referenced 'faith without works is dead, the body without the spirit is dead' in reflecting on her deputy coroner calling.
Joel 2:25
Nia referenced 'what the locust had eaten' from the Old Testament to describe God restoring what the enemy had stolen.
Ephesians 6:12
Nia referenced 'the battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities, rulers, authorities, dark forces' when describing her spiritual maturation.
John 10:10
Nia cited 'he comes to steal, kill, and destroy' when warning viewers about psychics and the demonic realm.
Nia ran from God into rebellion and false spirituality, hit rock bottom, and returned to find God had been pursuing her all along.
Nia heard an authoritative divine voice that stopped her in her tracks and redirected her life entirely, as Paul did on the Damascus road.
Nia described feeling like everything that made her who she was had been stripped away — dead inside — before God breathed life back into her.
Nia's vision of Jesus outside a gate with green grass, fruit trees, and a bright path directly mirrors Jesus's declaration 'I am the gate' in John 10:9.
The accusation
God allowed this to happen to meWhat they said
“If you're so good then why is my life like this? I kept thinking that it was his fault everything that was going on.”
How God answered
God was protecting her from a path that would have perpetuated generational cycles of destruction. The military rejection, the failed job, the broken relationship — all were divine redirection toward law enforcement, college, and a life built in him rather than outside him.
Resolution
Fully resolved in testimonyNia's Christian Walk
Identity-wounded teenager seeking validation through appearance, relationships, and New Age spirituality → woman who found her purpose and worth entirely in Christ.
Got into law enforcement as a dispatcher at age 20, a role she had not pursued before. Now in college studying criminal justice for two years. Has her own apartment. Threw away colored contacts she had worn for six years and never returned to them. Stopped cussing after praying for deliverance from it.
This isn't who I am. I've made up this whole person, this whole persona, and it's not who I am.
cussing addiction — 'God, get rid of my cussing addiction' — she threw away her contacts and stopped cussing; both stopped at a specific moment and have not returned in four years.
He set me free from the whole spirituality thing — the psychics, the crystals, the zodiac signs, the horoscopes, the tarot, the spirit boxes. He exposed the deception of the demonic realm. He got rid of my cussing addiction. He delivered me from the sleep paralysis and the demonic attacks at night.
After baptism, experienced a growl in her room and continued spiritual warfare. Fell into a toxic relationship with someone she believed was Christian but was not, returning to sin briefly. Also struggled with letting go of secular music, which triggered further spiritual warfare when she didn't comply.
It's not based off your merit. It's not based off your performance. It's based off of his mercy by sending his son.
Law enforcement dispatcher for three years, pursuing a deputy coroner role. Studying criminal justice in college. Shares her testimony on YouTube to warn others about psychics and New Age deception and to point people to Christ.
Prayer
The power of Prayer — Christian hairstylist stood in the gap for Nia.
Kenya, a hairstylist Nia booked during her isolation, opened up to her and told her she needed to go to God. She asked when Nia had last been to church or read the Bible, gave her her personal number, texted her that night to check on her, and told her to go home and read the Bible and pray. She is still Nia's close friend today. A second bridge was Commander Charles, a pastor at Nia's workplace, who asked her if she had ever gone to God about what she was dealing with and told her simply, 'I would go to God.'
Nia closes their testimony with a prayer for you.
Whatever you carry right now, you can bring it to Him. You don’t need the right words.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13
If you don’t know how → Just ask him
Pray for young women who are seeking validation through appearance, relationships, or New Age spirituality — who feel invisible and unworthy — that God would interrupt their search the way he interrupted Nia's.
Is today your day?
Absolutely, He will.
You don't have to figure everything out right now.
You don't need to have all the answers.
If something stirred in your heart while you were watching or reading — that's not nothing.
That is the Holy Spirit gently knocking on the door of your heart.
Stay right here. There's no rush. The Spirit doesn't pressure or hurry.
Watch another video. Read a little more. Take your time.
When you're ready — even if “ready” just means a little curious — Jesus is ready to meet you.
You don't have to clean up your life first.
You don't have to pass any test.
You only need to say a simple “yes” to Him.
He will take care of the rest.
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
